In his current body of work Peter Foucault has created a series of "drawing-projects" that produce complex abstract compositions. In addition to free-hand drawings, Foucault has developed self-running investigative systems that generate images. This pursuit has allowed him to utilize robotics; climatic factors such wind and rain, and his own body to yield a mark.
At the root of these projects is a constant tension between control and the loss of control, with a series of overarching systems created and run until their final result. Foucault's work is concept driven, with the margin of uncertainty being an important part of the work, often utilizing objects that reference printmaking and multiples.
Outside Forces is a selection of new drawings from Peter Foucault's Machenic Phylum and Four-Square series in which he collaborated with outside mark-making systems. An interactive robotic drawing machine will create a large-scale drawing over the duration of the exhibition.
