Renee Gertler utilizes a domestic environment to explore the complex - and often strange and otherworldly - ideas that explain the workings of the known universe. Outer space, black holes and the magnitude of nothingness are points of singularity encompassed in her newest mixed media installation within the confines of Blankspace.
Gertler received her MFA in sculpture from California College of the Arts in 2007. She has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally and has been the recipient of such awards as the Danish Arts Council Grant and the Vermont Studio Artist in Residence, Fellowship.
